“Every wall is a door.” Welcome to the Fall issue of Westside Notes, and I hope the autumn season is a time of renewal for all of you. As always, if you prefer not to receive future issues of this ezine, simply unsubscribe at the bottom of this page.
After 9 months of searching the Westside for the right space, I’m pleased to announce that my offices will be moving in November. A colleague of mine helped me find a really terrific new building and I’ll be occupying the ground floor of what can be described as a modern duplex on Overland just south of Pico. Please stay posted for our open house in early 2009. The offices will be located at the address below and my phone number will remain the same:
2550 Overland Avenue, Suite 100 Many of you know that I’ve been blessed with some really talented associates in my therapy practice these past few years, and once again, I am very pleased to introduce a new intern, Blair Smith, M.A. into the practice. She is a 2007 graduate of Antioch University’s Masters in Psychology program and brings with her an excellent clinical foundation as well as wisdom and experience from her own journeys.
I’ll also be interviewing for a new associate for 2009 as John Chebultz, M.A. completes his licensing process so I’d love to hear from anyone who meets the following description:
Part-time, unlicensed therapist (MSW or MFT intern) with background in addictions, bereavement, and teens. Prefer less than 1000 hours toward licensure.
In September I presented a workshop entitled From Now On: The 7 Keys to Purposeful Recovery at the annual conference of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was a really fun and energizing experience, and the workshop was very well-received by all. As many of you know, one of my passions is to spread the word about how to integrate Recovery Coaching into the addiction recovery community and this was an opportunity to do just that. Although sexual recovery can be distinguished from chemical addictions in some ways, coaching strategies can be utilized with this population very effectively, and I was proud to be one of the only coach/therapists presenting at the conference. My intention is to bring the workshop to as many addiction conferences as possible so I’ll be sure to keep you posted as things continue to unfold.
Many colleagues continue to ask me about the differences between recovery coaching, therapy and sponsorship so I’ve created a simple chart to outline these distinctions.
If you prefer not to receive future mailings, simply unsubscribe below and I look forward to connecting in other ways. In the meantime, enjoy the fall season and take good care.
Gratefully,
Andrew
