“Let's be grateful for those who give us happiness; they are the charming gardeners who make our soul bloom. ”
                                                       — Marcel Proust

Welcome to the Fall edition of Westside Notes. Once again we are having our typical Santa Ana conditions (i.e. dry heat and winds out of the east) here in Southern California as I write to you on this first weekend of October. Not only am I grateful for our warm weather, but I'm also very grateful and proud of my associates, and this issue is dedicated to them. Having interns in my practice for many years now has been so gratifying as they keep me on my toes and help refresh my clinical lens. I especially want to thank Annabel and Maria (as well as Eddie) who provided vital support and collaboration at the Bridge to Recovery weekend workshop series this past year.

Welcoming Schuyler Ha, M.A.

I'm proud to introduce my newest associate, Schuyler Ha, M.A., who recently joined the practice after completing internships at the Maple Center of Beverly Hills and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Schuyler brings tremendous depth and wisdom to his clients from both personal and professional experience.

Schuyler Ha, M.A.Schuyler Ha, M.A. is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern providing psychotherapy and counseling to individual adults, couples and groups. Schuyler believes in tailoring the therapeutic experience to the specific needs of each individual. Annabel Raymond, M.A.:
Healthy Relationships Group
Now Forming

In the month of October Annabel will be launching her first private practice run of a psychoeducation / process group designed at a clinic a few years back called Healthy Relationships. This 16-week group is designed to help people who may struggle with relationships in general or who merely want more tools for maintaining their current relationship health. Topics run the gamut from sex and intimacy to codependency and autonomy to conflict resolution and everything in-between. So, if you have any clients (or friends) who might benefit from a course in "what constitutes a healthy relationship and how can I get one?", then please send them our way. The group will meet for 16 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 pm to 8:45 pm. For more details, please call Annabel directly at 310.740.1969.

Maria Gray, M.A., M.Ed.:
Positive Psychology and the 12 Steps

Maria has been developing an exciting new workshop series which will kick off in early November with a free presentation here on the Westside:

You are cordially invited to a free afternoon workshop entitled Positive Psychology and the 12 Steps at the Santa Monica Library on Sunday, November 3rd from 2-3pm.

Positive Psychology is an innovative, research-based model of psychology founded on the belief that people want to cultivate what is best within themselves and enhance their experience in the areas of work, love and play. The workshop will explore the synchronicity between Positive Psychology and 12-Step programs and offer proven suggestions for enhancing your level of happiness.

For more information, contact Maria at 310.319.6500 or maria@mariagray.net. Maria is also pleased to announce the launch of her new website www.mariagray.net. Check it out to learn more about Positive Psychology and Maria's psychotherapy practice.

Please keep in mind that all of my associates have evening and weekend availability and offer a sliding scale. If you prefer not to receive future mailings, simply unsubscribe below and I look forward to connecting in other ways. In the meantime, take good care and enjoy the rest of the autumn season.

Gratefully,

Andrew
